Three different philosophies
Tuya is a white-label cloud platform used by thousands of brands — huge choice, but quality and support vary from product to product.
Aqara builds its own Zigbee-based devices with a polished app, aimed mainly at DIY users and apartments.
LifeSmart designs its full ecosystem — switches, panels, sensors, locks, curtain motors and gateways — around its own CoSS wireless protocol, with Zigbee, Wi-Fi and Z-Wave options where needed, and is installed through authorised partners.
The comparison matrix
The table below summarises how the three platforms typically compare for a Saudi villa or apartment. Always check the exact datasheet of the model you plan to install.
Where CoSS makes the difference
Saudi villas use thick reinforced concrete and block walls that weaken 2.4 GHz signals. CoSS runs on a sub-GHz band that travels further through walls, so fewer repeaters are needed across floors.
Because LifeSmart controls the hardware and the protocol end-to-end, scenes run locally on the hub and keep working when the internet drops.
When another platform is fine
For a single studio apartment with a few plugs and bulbs, a DIY Tuya or Aqara kit may be enough. The gap appears when you scale to a full villa, compound, or hotel floor with dozens of devices and a need for professional commissioning and warranty.
Our recommendation
For whole-home projects in KSA we recommend LifeSmart with CoSS as the backbone, adding Zigbee or Z-Wave devices where a specific product calls for it. Earth's Material can survey your property and propose the right mix.

Frequently asked questions
Can LifeSmart work with Alexa and Google Home?+
Yes — LifeSmart supports major voice assistants, and selected gateways support Apple HomeKit.
Is Tuya a bad choice?+
Not necessarily. It's a good fit for small DIY setups; for whole-home projects, consistency and support matter more.
